Laubach Literacy New Brunswick

Donations accepted until noon this Friday at RBC, Sobeys

(Moncton, New Brunswick – Oct. 8, 2014) – A provincial non-profit group that has been flooded with donations of items for its upcoming book sale is urgently seeking help to set-up for the event and during the sale itself.

“We have been overwhelmed with books and other items and need more volunteers than we expected to ensure this event is a success,” says Deanna Allen-Champagne, Executive Director of Laubach Literacy New Brunswick (LLNB). “If you have a few hours to spare, we’d really appreciate your help.”

LLNB will hold its first “Bookstravaganza: A Really Big, Really Good, Really Fun Charity Book Sale” on Saturday, Oct. 18 and Sunday, Oct. 19 in the gym of Edith Cavell School, 125 Park Street, Moncton. Funds raised will be used to promote LLNB’s free, one-to-one adult tutoring program, offered across New Brunswick. Most items at the book sale will range from $1 to $3.

In hopes of attracting individuals to help with the event, LLNB will allow registered volunteers to take five books free of charge during the event set-up (the afternoon and evening of Friday. Oct. 17) or following their shift the weekend of the sale.

To sign up as a volunteer, please contact Robert Gallant by phone at 855-8525 or by email at booksale@llnb.ca.

Meanwhile, the public has until noon this Friday (Oct. 10) to donate items to Bookstravaganza, including gently used hard- and soft-cover books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks and puzzles. Donations are being accepted at RBC Royal Bank and Sobeys stores in Greater Moncton as well as at Premiere Van Lines, 663 Malenfant Blvd., Dieppe. For more information about the book sale, visit the LLNB website at www.llnb.ca/booksale.

Partners making Bookstravaganza possible include RBC Royal Bank, Premiere Van Lines, Sobeys, Razor Creative, KPMG, Jabez Expression Web Design, Anglophone East School District, D.R. Recycling, Cache Property Management and the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.
