Laubach Literacy New Brunswick

More volunteers needed to sort books, help at event

(Moncton, New Brunswick – Sept. 17, 2014) – Those wishing to donate books for Laubach Literacy New Brunswick’s upcoming book sale ‘Bookstravaganza’ can now do so at any Sobeys store in Greater Moncton.

“We’re thrilled to have Sobeys on board as another donation location and to make the public aware of this important fundraising event,” says Deanna Allen-Champagne, Executive Director of Laubach Literacy New Brunswick. “We’re very fortunate to have so many excellent community partners involved with this project.”

Laubach Literacy New Brunswick (LLNB), a provincial organization that helps adults improve their literacy skills through free, one-to-one tutoring, is accepting donations of books and other items for a charity book sale it will host Saturday, Oct. 18 and Sunday, Oct. 19 in the gymnasium of Edith Cavell School, 125 Park St., Moncton. Most items will be sold from $1 to $3 each.

Donations for the event are being accepted until Oct. 15 at all Sobeys stores in Greater Moncton, at all RBC Royal Bank branches in the area as well as at Premiere Van Lines, 663 Malenfant Blvd., Dieppe. (Full listing of donation sites at end of release.)

“Sobeys proudly supports the close-knit community of Moncton in many ways, so we are pleased that our convenient locations and hours help make it easy for customer to donate to Laubach Literacy,” says Sobeys Elmwood Drive Manager, Todd Redmond.

LLNB is pleased to accept at the donation locales new and gently-used hard- and soft-cover books, as well as DVDs, CDs, audiobooks and puzzles for the sale, the funds from which will be used to increase awareness about LLNB’s tutoring program, offered across New Brunswick.

Meanwhile, the non-profit organization still needs more volunteers to assist with ongoing book sorting prior to the sale, as well as during the weekend of the sale itself. If you can lend a few hours, please contact LLNB’s book sale volunteer coordinator Robert Gallant by phone at 855-8525 or by email at booksale@llnb.ca. (Corporate groups welcome!)

Partners who are making Bookstravaganza possible include RBC Royal Bank, Premiere Van Lines, Sobeys, Razor Creative, KPMG, Jabez Expression Web Design, Anglophone East School District, D.R. Recycling, Cache Property Management and the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.
