Laubach Literacy New Brunswick

(Moncton, N.B. – April 15, 2014) – To mark tomorrow’s New Brunswick Literacy Day, Laubach Literacy New Brunswick (LLNB) has relaunched its website, providing a user-friendly tool that it hopes will encourage individuals to sign up for literacy training.

“The redesigned website makes it easy for New Brunswickers to get information about how to improve their literacy skills and shows what a difference it can make in their lives,” says LLNB Executive Director Deanna Allen.

LLNB is a non-profit, charitable organization whose trained volunteers help New Brunswick adults improve their basic reading, writing and math skills through a free, confidential program. Trained volunteers work one-to-one with learners, using materials relevant to learners’ literacy levels and their daily lives.

The organization’s relaunched website – www.llnb.ca – offers success stories from past learners, information on LLNB’s province-wide affiliated councils as well as information for those interested in becoming a volunteer tutor or starting a council, says Allen.

“Since more than half of working-age New Brunswickers have literacy skills below the level needed to cope with the demands of everyday life and work, it’s vital that information about literacy programs reach those who could benefit from them,” she says. “We hope the improved website will reach a wide audience.”

Laubach Literacy’s ‘Each One Teach One’ philosophy has helped more than 60 million people around the globe learn to read in their own language. LLNB is a partner in national and international efforts to help all reach their full literate potential. The organization is a member of the New Brunswick Adult Literacy and Essential Skills Partnership, which is committed to strengthening services, strategies and awareness related to adult literacy and essential skills through collaboration.
